Interview with Carmela Inguanta and Andy Cecil on their Transition to Diktamen’s True Cloud Digital Dictation

Carmela Inguanta, Director at Teacher Stern, and Andy Cecil, IT Director at Teacher Stern, shed light on the firm’s smooth transition to Diktamen Cloud Digital Dictation and some of the key benefits they’ve experienced since the migration.

Carmela Inguanta: We made the switch to Diktamen True Cloud Digital Dictation for a couple of key reasons. Firstly, we wanted a more seamless system. Previously, we had to manually upload and send dictations, which added unnecessary steps. With Diktamen, we could send dictations directly, cutting out the extra input. Additionally, the costs associated with our old system was becoming prohibitive, especially when they proposed an expensive upgrade. Diktamen offered a more cost-effective and efficient solution.

Andy Cecil: We had a very positive experience. The team at Diktamen, especially Joonas and Joseph, were incredibly supportive. They were very flexible in addressing our concerns, and their willingness to work with us through the transition was invaluable. While there were some initial challenges with transitioning from a traditional desktop app to a cloud-based solution, the process was relatively smooth. Once we got everything set up, the system worked seamlessly.

Carmela Inguanta: I agree. There were some moments where we had to adapt, but the team made sure we were fully supported. We wouldn’t have gone forward with the change if we hadn’t felt confident in their support.

Carmela Inguanta: Initially, we had both systems running side by side to give everyone a chance to adjust. It took a little time, but the team quickly adapted to Diktamen. There were some improvements that we suggested, which were really practical and made the system more user-friendly. The younger staff didn’t initially embrace dictation as much, but the benefits of Diktamen’s ease of use were clear, and over time, more and more people wanted to switch to it.

Andy Cecil: I think one of the key factors for the success of the transition was that the users didn’t feel like they were moving to a worse system. They saw improvements in how quickly they could get their work done, and that made them eager to fully adopt Diktamen.

Carmela Inguanta: One of the biggest benefits is the cost-effectiveness. Diktamen has proven to be much more affordable than our old system, which had become very expensive. Additionally, it’s much easier to use, and the cloud-based system means we don’t have to worry about maintaining complex software on every device. It’s a more manageable solution overall.

Andy Cecil: I also appreciate the flexibility and seamless integration. As a Citrix-based organisation, we had some initial concerns, but Joonas and the team were extremely helpful in debugging and resolving any issues. It’s clear that Diktamen is well-versed in supporting different setups, which made a big difference for us.

Andy Cecil: Yes, absolutely. Because it’s cloud-based and requires little installation on individual devices, the maintenance is minimal. We’re not having to deal with extensive updates or troubleshooting. The system basically takes care of itself, and if we need support, Joonas and the team are quick to assist us. We’re planning to upgrade the system further, but even that process feels very straightforward.

Andy Cecil: Dictation is a skill, and it can definitely increase efficiency, but it’s not something that everyone, especially younger staff, is trained to use. That said, once they see the benefits, they’re more likely to embrace it. And as Carmela said, tasks and amendments to documents are an area where dictation still works well.

Carmela Inguanta: Yes, I would recommend it. The cost is more manageable, and the system is much easier to use compared to what we were using before.
