Jonathan Copper, Equity Partner and Head of the Residential Property Department at Sharman Law LLP, shares his experience of moving the firm from a failing legacy dictation system to Diktamen Cloud Digital Dictation, and how the switch has improved efficiency, support, and overall workflow reliability.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Sharman Law?
Jonathan Copper: “I’m an Equity Partner at Sharman Law and head up the Residential Property Department. I’ve been with the firm for many years, and part of my role includes ensuring our technology supports how we work and deliver for clients.”
What prompted Sharman Law to look for a new digital dictation solution?
Jonathan Copper: “We were previously using a legacy system, but the service had really declined. It started to fail, and despite paying them a lot of money, we just weren’t getting any proper support. It became clear that we needed to move to something more reliable and modern, so we terminated that contract early and looked for a better alternative.”
How would you describe your experience working with Diktamen and their team?
Jonathan Copper: “Excellent, honestly. Joe and Joonas were really responsive and incredibly easy to work with. They went above and beyond to help us migrate smoothly — even waiving some initial charges, which was very much appreciated. The support has been fantastic; we can always reach someone quickly if we have a question. It’s been a genuinely positive experience.”
Were there any concerns when transitioning to a new system?
Jonathan Copper: “Not really, other than wanting to make sure the process was straightforward. We didn’t want a lot of disruption. But Diktamen made it simple. Everything just worked, and staff adapted without any issues.”
What stands out about Diktamen compared to your old system?
Jonathan Copper: “The reliability and the support, without a doubt. The platform works exactly as it should — it’s smooth, intuitive, and well-designed. And the team behind it is what really makes the difference. They care about their clients and respond quickly to any questions or needs.”
Based on your experience so far, would you recommend Diktamen to other firms?
Jonathan Copper: “Absolutely. In fact, I don’t know why more firms aren’t using it — it’s a no-brainer. It’s reliable, cost-effective, and the customer service is outstanding.”
Digital dictation is often seen as a traditional workflow tool. How do you see its role at Sharman Law?
Jonathan Copper: “It’s still a key part of how we work. Diktamen has just made it better — more efficient and user-friendly. It supports how our fee earners like to work without getting in the way, which is exactly what we needed.”
What about the future — are you exploring other technologies or AI?
Jonathan Copper: “Definitely. We’re already trialling ChatGPT and Co-Pilot internally, and using Whisper for our telephone system via 3CX. We’re also going live with a new cloud-based case management system from One Advanced. For us, it’s about staying ahead of the curve and using tools that help us work faster and smarter for our clients.”
What advice would you give to other firms thinking about switching to Diktamen?
Jonathan Copper: “Just go for it. The difference in service and performance is night and day compared to what we had before. The product works beautifully, and the support team makes everything easy. You won’t regret it.”
Thank you for your time, Jonathan. Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience with Diktamen?
Jonathan Copper: “Just that we’re really pleased with the switch. It’s improved our workflows, saved us time, and given us confidence in the technology we use. I’d happily recommend Diktamen to any firm.”
