Interview wiih Malcolm Begley on Howells Solicitors move to Digital Dictation with Diktamen

Malcolm Begley, IT Team Manager at Howells Solicitors, shares the firm’s experience of moving to Diktamen Cloud Digital Dictation, highlighting how it has simplified workflows, reduced reliance on multiple systems, and improved the end-user experience.

Malcolm Begley: “I’m the IT Team Manager, overseeing all technical infrastructure and hardware for end users. While development is managed separately, everything related to infrastructure and ensuring our teams have the right tools comes under my remit.”

Malcolm Begley: “We were running two separate systems, which was cumbersome. When Diktamen reached out, we saw an opportunity to streamline operations and consolidate onto a single, modern platform.”

Malcolm Begley: “The main goal was simplicity and efficiency. The system needed to work seamlessly for all staff, including those less technically experienced, and reduce the complexity caused by running two separate dictation solutions.”

Malcolm Begley: “From start to finish, the project has been very successful. Even the most non-IT literate staff adapted quickly and were able to use the system effectively. Diktamen’s integration with our existing tools, such as Entra, has made the transition seamless for end users.”

Malcolm Begley: “At the moment, there aren’t any immediate projects, but we’re keeping an eye on AI capabilities, particularly around dictation translation and smarter speech checking. While nothing has yet provided immediate value for end users, we’re watching the space closely for future developments.”
