Diktamen NHS SBS approved framework supplier

Diktamen has been chosen as one of the approved suppliers for a framework contract with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). This marks a major step forward for the company, opening the door to the UK public healthcare sector and highlighting the global competitiveness of Finnish healthtech.

The NHS is the world’s second largest public healthcare system, and its framework contracts are the main route for procuring products and services. The NHS SBS Framework, under which Diktamen was selected, brings together leading international suppliers across key technology areas.

Diktamen was shortlisted in four categories, all focusing on software solutions designed to enhance patient records – a field where innovation and efficiency are in particularly high demand. Each category shortlisted just eight companies worldwide.

The NHS SBS Framework agreement covers software procurement with an estimated value of £400 million (GBP). Suppliers were evaluated on quality, cost-effectiveness, innovation, references and delivery capability.

The framework enables Diktamen to provide NHS organisations with dictation management systems and speech recognition solutions that help streamline patient record-keeping. These tools support efficiency, reduce administrative workloads, and free up valuable time for frontline care.

John Evans, Business Development Director of Diktamen UK Ltd, said:

“Being selected as an NHS SBS framework supplier on our first application is a significant milestone for Diktamen. It reflects the quality and competitiveness of our solutions and the commitment of our team. This recognition creates a strong platform for our growth in the UK healthcare market.”

The NHS is Europe’s largest employer, with over 1.4 million staff across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and is globally respected as a leader in public healthcare.

The demand for dictation, speech recognition and outsourced transcription services is expected to grow. These technologies are recognised as vital for reducing administrative burden, improving productivity, enhancing patient safety and ensuring more efficient use of resources.

Diktamen has been developing dictation and speech recognition solutions in Finland for more than 15 years, supporting improved patient registration across 15 welfare areas. With the NHS framework agreement, this expertise will now be applied to improve efficiency in the UK healthcare system.

The company is already well established in the UK, with a local subsidiary and team. Since 2018, Diktamen has successfully delivered its solutions to the legal sector and has since expanded into healthcare.

All Diktamen’s product development takes place in Finland. Securing a place on the NHS SBS Framework demonstrates the quality, innovation and global competitiveness of Finnish technology.

Olavi Valkama, CEO of Diktamen Oy, commented:
“Access to the NHS framework agreement not only strengthens our position in the UK but also opens doors to international partnerships and showcases Finnish tech excellence worldwide.”

Joe DiCarlo, UK Vice President say;

“Being an approved supplier on the NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) framework offers significant advantages, including enhanced credibility, streamlined procurement, and access to a wide range of public sector contracts. Suppliers benefit from pre-qualification, reducing the need for repeated tendering, and gain visibility among NHS trusts and other government bodies. The framework supports operational efficiency through integrated e-procurement platforms and offers relationship management tools, helpdesk support, and alignment with NHS goals around sustainability and social value. Overall, it’s a powerful gateway to growth, trust, and long-term partnerships in the public sector.”
