Alison Gooden, Senior PA at Signature Litigation, and David Baskerville, Director at Baskerville Drummond LLP, reflect on Signature’s successful transition to Diktamen Cloud Digital Dictation and the impact it’s had across the firm.
Could you introduce yourself and describe your role within your organisation?
David Baskerville: “My name is David Baskerville, and I am an IT consultant. I support our organisation, Signature, with our IT strategy and project implementation.“
Alison Gooden: “I’m Alison Gooden, and I’m a senior PA Team Leader at Signature. I helped with the pilot project of the Diktamen implementation.“
What prompted your organisation to start working with Diktamen, and what was the initial project goal?
David Baskerville: “We were initially prompted to look for a new solution after having a very poor experience with their legacy providers cloud product. We faced multiple outages within a short period, with as many as seven outages over two or three months. The system was also difficult to troubleshoot, and even after implementing single sign-on to fix issues, it only led to more problems. The outages disrupted critical work processes, especially for senior partners who heavily rely on digital dictation. Our goal with Diktamen was to find a more reliable, stable, and user-friendly solution.“
How would you describe your experience working with the Diktamen team during the implementation process?
David Baskerville: “The implementation process with Diktamen has been very positive. The team has been very responsive to our needs, and the support we’ve received has been clear and direct. They’ve taken the time to listen to our feedback and make improvements based on that. It feels like a genuine partnership, which is something we didn’t experience with our previous provider.“
What specific challenges or pain points has Diktamen helped solve within your organisation?
David Baskerville: “Diktamen has helped us address several pain points. The main issue was the frequent outages with their legacy provider, which created major disruptions, especially for senior users. With Diktamen, the system has been much more stable. It has also improved the dictation process for our senior partner, who relies on it heavily, and we’ve had fewer problems with dictation not being sent or lost due to system failures.“
Alison Gooden: “From a PA perspective, Diktamen has made dictation easier to manage. While there have been some adjustments, the system is definitely more reliable and easier to use, both internally and remotely, than our previous solution.“
What measurable improvements or efficiencies have you noticed since adopting Diktamen?
David Baskerville: “The main improvement has been stability. The system is running much more smoothly, with fewer disruptions. From an operational perspective, the dictation process has been much more efficient for our senior partner, which has positively impacted workflow. We’ve also received clearer support from the Diktamen team whenever issues arise, which was lacking with our previous provider.“
Alison Gooden: : “Yes, I agree. From my perspective, there’s also been an improvement in the PAs’ ability to manage dictation.“
What aspects of Diktamen’s service do you find most valuable or unique compared to other solutions?
David Baskerville: “The most valuable aspect of Diktamen is the support and responsiveness. The team has been excellent at listening to our concerns and working with us to resolve them, which makes us feel like we’re in a true partnership. Unlike their legacy provider, Diktamen has shown a willingness to adapt and improve based on feedback. The app itself is much easier to use, with better dictation management and more control over dictations.”
Alison Gooden: “I completely agree. The team at Diktamen has been proactive in making sure that we are satisfied, which hasn’t been the case with previous solutions. Also, the way they handle technical issues by providing clear explanations and follow-up actions has built trust.“
Based on your experience, would you recommend Diktamen to other organisations, and if so, why?
David Baskerville: “I would recommend Diktamen, but with the caveat that it’s still early days for us. The system has shown promise, and the support has been strong. I think the key to recommending it would be in six months to a year when we’ve had more time to see how the system performs long-term. That said, if Diktamen continues with the level of support and stability that we’ve experienced so far, I can definitely see it being a great solution for other organisations.“
Alison Gooden: “Yes, I agree with David. While it’s early in our trial, I can see the potential. The system is a little less polished, but I think with time and continuous improvements, it will become an excellent choice. The support is definitely what sets it apart.”
Any final thoughts you’d like to share?
Alison Gooden: “We’re pleased with how everything has turned out. The Diktamen team have been fantastic from start to finish.”
David Baskerville: “It’s a great example of technology aligning with a firm’s needs. Diktamen delivered exactly what was required—with minimal disruption and maximum benefit.”
