Muj Mumtaz, IT Applications Manager at Lodders, discusses the firm’s seamless transition to Diktamen Cloud Digital Dictation and the benefits they gained during the deployment process.
Q1: Why did Lodders decide to transition to Diktamen Cloud Digital Dictation?
Muj Mumtaz: The main reason for the transition to Diktamen from our previous system, was that it was outdated and not cloud-based. We wanted to adopt a cloud-first approach to modernise our IT infrastructure. We did consider our old systems cloud version, but after testing both, Diktamen was far simpler and more efficient to use. It offered a true cloud experience, whereas our old system still worked in a hybrid setup, which wasn’t ideal for us. The costs associated with upgrading our previous solution also played a role—it just wasn’t viable anymore.
Q2: How was your experience working with the Diktamen implementation team?
Muj Mumtaz: The experience was very positive. We worked closely with Joonas and Joe from Diktamen, and they were great at addressing any concerns we had. We started with a pilot group for about six weeks, gathering feedback and making adjustments along the way. The team was incredibly responsive, making tweaks and refinements quickly. Their support ensured that everything worked as smoothly as possible, even when we faced initial pushback from some users.
Q3: How did your team adapt to using Diktamen compared to the old system?
Muj Mumtaz: At first, there was some resistance, which is natural with any change, but the team quickly adapted. Diktamen’s interface is very user-friendly, and we provided thorough training sessions to walk everyone through the basics. It was important for us to show why we made the switch and how the new system would benefit them. Over time, everyone became more comfortable, and the feedback from users has been overwhelmingly positive.
Q4: What specific benefits stood out with Diktamen?
Muj Mumtaz: The biggest benefit is how easy it is to use. The system requires minimal training, which made the transition smooth. Another key advantage is cost-efficiency—we saved significantly by moving to Diktamen, particularly in eliminating the need for on-premise servers. The cloud-based nature of Diktamen also means we no longer have to worry about hardware maintenance or complicated setups on individual devices. The platform just works.
Q5: Has the transition made future maintenance easier?
Muj Mumtaz: Absolutely. Because it’s a cloud-based system, we’ve drastically reduced the amount of maintenance we need to do. Updates and troubleshooting are minimal, and the team at Diktamen is always quick to help when needed. This has freed up our IT resources for other priorities. We’re looking forward to future upgrades, which should be just as straightforward to implement.
Q6: How do you see digital dictation evolving at Lodders, especially with newer generations of staff?
Muj Mumtaz: Digital dictation is more popular with our seasoned lawyers, but we’re seeing younger staff begin to embrace it too. The system is designed to streamline workflows, which is something everyone appreciates. As we introduce features like real-time transcription and more automation, I think even more staff, including the younger generation, will see the value in using dictation regularly.
Q7: Would you recommend Diktamen to other firms looking for a digital dictation solution?
Muj Mumtaz: Definitely. Diktamen has been a great fit for us. It’s simple to use, cost-effective, and the support we’ve received has been excellent. I’d absolutely recommend it to any firm looking to modernise their dictation system.
