Interview with Stuart McLachlan on Express Solicitors’ Transition to Diktamen Cloud Digital Dictation

Stuart McLachlan, Head of IT at personal injury law firm Express Solicitors, discusses the firm’s move to Diktamen Cloud Digital Dictation, sharing insights into the decision-making process, benefits of the switch, and how the firm is keeping an eye on future technology trends like AI.

Can you tell us a bit about your role at Express Solicitors?

Stuart McLachlan: “I’m the Head of IT at Express Solicitors, responsible for overseeing our technology strategy and ensuring that our systems support both our internal teams and the wider business efficiently.”

What prompted Express Solicitors to look for a new digital dictation solution?

Stuart McLachlan: “We wanted to review our existing dictation partner to make sure they still met modern standards — both from a technology and a pricing perspective. AI is a big topic in the legal sector right now — what’s Express Solicitors’ position on it?

Stuart McLachlan: “We’re certainly interested in AI and watching developments closely. At this stage, though, we haven’t seen anything that provides immediate, tangible value for our users. There’s a lot of potential, but we’re not quite at the point where AI is revolutionising everyday legal work. When it reaches a level that genuinely enhances productivity and client experience, we’ll be ready to explore it further.”
